New Zealand has some great cafes and an Auckland cafe has recently been voted the best in the country. In the first-ever New Zealand Cafe of the Year competition more than 400 cafes from around the country entered and there were more than 24,000 votes from the public. The winner was selected by a panel of judges, who rated the entrants on appearance, service, food and overall experience.
The winner was Paper Moon Cafe and Bar from Mairangi Bay on Auckland's North Shore.
Other regional winners were:
Bosco Cafe, Te Kuiti (Central North Island region)
Mcfarlaes Caffe, Inglewood (Lower North Island region)
ARTISAN by Rangiora Bakery, Rangiora (Upper South Island)
The Roost Cafe, Oamaru (Lower South Island)
The judges were particularly impressed by the atmosphere, service and food of Paper Moon and of their signature dish, Beans and Bacon. Well worth a try!
