One of Northland's Top Ten Beaches

New Zealand has some of the loveliest coastline of any country in the world. The east coast of the North Island, in particular, is a seemingly endless string of beautiful bays, rocky headlands and islands. One of the unique features of North Island beaches is the pohutukawa, a New Zealand native tree that is found nearly everywhere along the coast. They provide welcome shade and are a stunning sight at this time of the year when they come into flower.
The best beaches in the country are arguably to be found in Northland. Although escaping to the beach in Northland for the summer holidays is very popular amongst New Zealanders, it's still possible to find a spot all to yourself. From the huge variety of magical Northland beaches I've selected ten that I think are particular highlights.
