Much of the "Lord of the Rings" movie trilogy was filmed in some of the South Island's most spectacular locations. "Argonath" (on the Kawerau River), "Amon Hen" and the "Lothlorien Woods" (near Queenstown) and "Weatherop Camp" (Fiordland) are just a few. Several companies offer tours of the Lord of the Rings sites.
